Not even enough time to meet myself

Here is a Jigar Moradabadi ghazal. It has been sung beautifully by Mukesh.

See this video:

In this video you will hear the voices of Mukesh and Talat Mehmood. Mukesh is singing this ghazal and talat is singing a Ghalib ghazal with the same rhyme and meter.

Beautiful stuff.

Who jo roothein yuun manana chaahiye,

Zindagi se rooth jana chaahiye.

Himmat-e-katil barhana chaahiye,

Zor-e-khanjar muskurana chaahiye.

Hai inhein dhookon se dil ki zindagi,

Jo haseen dhooka ho khaana chaahiye.

Lazatein hain dushman-e-auj-e-qamar,

Ulfaton se jee lagana chaahiye.

Unse milnein ko to kya kahiye “jigar”,

Khud se milnein ko zamaana chaahiye.

Where is such poetry now? Where are such singers now? Where is such music now?

Jis dil ko tumnein dekh liya, dil bana diya

Pehle kahaan yeh naaz thay yeh aishv-o-ada

Dil ko duaaein do tumhein katil bana diya
